What is the biggest downside?

“Some people will say that it’s that pro sports are a very non-scheduled thing. Most of our games happen at night and most people have to work during the day. Baseball especially is, from February to October, 6 to 7 days a week. That doesn’t mean that I am working 8am to 10pm 6 to 7 days per week, but it does mean that I may get a question from a coach on a Saturday that they would really prefer that I answered on Saturday or Sunday. Now if it’s a research question, that’s just not gonna happen.”

“The other thing that is becoming more real to me the older I get is that I have a very cool job. Which means there are a lot of other people that would be willing to do what I am doing. Which means that it drives salaries down. Especially as my data skills go up and programming becomes a larger part of the job, my salary is probably down 40-50% as opposed to working in other industries. That is not something that I expected.”

“In sports we are seeing all of these contracts that are millions and millions of dollars. I thought that everyone would make really good money and i’m like ‘wait your working us really really hard for 6 days a week’ things like that. It’s just not like that at all.”
