What skills are most valuable?

“The single most valuable skill that I use on a day to day basis is computer programming and when I was in your shoes, in undergrad, I wanted nothing to do with programming… However, when I got into grad school at ECU, my professor told me that we should start getting into it because it will allow you to customize your own data and that’s actually a reason I spent a summer at Penn State with Dr. Challis.”

“For any sport there are stats and we are just logging stats every time someone plays any sport. Today all of those stats are stored in these massive databases and for my job I need to access those databases and that is all built into programming.”

“The other thing for me personally is since 95% of my job is behind a computer screen, which is not what I intended to do originally. It has allowed for me to work remotely.”
